Following the divestment of the PSA stake in the TPCA plant in Cologne, a decision should be made to end production of the Peugeot 108 and Citroen C1.

This information came from Reuters, which refers to three independent sources. According to available information, the PSA Group wants to withdraw from the loss-making segment of small city cars. And even before he completes his connection with the FCA Group.

Restricting supply in the A segment, especially with regard to models with internal combustion engines, has not been unusual lately. In order to minimize emissions, cars must be equipped with expensive exhaust gas cleaning devices, which, however, increase costs and make cars obsolete. And this was to be the case for models 108 and C1 as well.
According to one of the sources quoted by the Reuters agency, PSA is withdrawing from the joint plant in Cologne and the A segment, in which the carmakers currently spend the most money in Europe.

The PSA Group declined to comment on the future of the two city cars. The statement should have mentioned that the group is going to examine which products in this segment will best meet customer requirements and currently meet European emission limits.
In addition, the future of the small PSA models will be affected by future mergers with the FCA Group. After all, the history of the Fiat brand is inextricably linked to city models such as the 500 or Panda. In both of them, electrification is already planned.

„Existing projects could be replaced by new ones, allowing mergers with the FCA, “Said one of the Reuters sources. “The merge shuffles the cards, especially if you consider that the A segment from the first 500 to the Panda is inseparable from Fiat’s history.“
The future of other city cars under the PSA Group’s brands will probably not be decided until the end of the first quarter of next year, when the PSA and FCA Groups should be definitively merged. The new company will then be called Stellantis.
