Petter Stordalen is fed up: – This is not the future

There is no doubt that the pandemic has hit the hotel industry hard. When Petter Stordalen (58) visits Senkveld this week, he tells frankly about how the bad times have come to him and reveals, among other things, that his daughter Emilie Stordalen (29) was worried about him at one point.

Although the hotel king has now received his first vaccine and is very positive about the future, he makes no secret of the fact that home offices and digital meetings are completely unbearable.

– I am so tired of seeing 40 pieces in a small picture and without sound, he says and continues:

– I am Norway’s worst at home office. I’m not looking at Zoom and Hangouts. I do not understand how one can have a perception that we are going to build something; culture, unity … I do not understand how a national meeting on Zoom or Hangouts works, he says.

In the last year, many have argued that the way many have adapted to a more digital everyday life is “the future itself”. Stordalen strongly disagrees with this.

– I’m tired of the whole thing and when they say that this is the future: It’s not! The future is built by optimists, not pessimists. It is built of meetings and creativity, he says.

He believes that good things are created through meeting and explains:

– You can not go to Antarctica with National Geographic. You can go there with Hurtigruta. If you are going to Alcudia beach, you have to go there and not just look at pictures, he says.
