The Christmas tree had just come down for 22-year-old Petter Ufs, who was on a Christmas visit to his mother in Notodden, when he was awakened by an accident on Thursday morning.
A car drove through the hedge and into the family’s garden at Sætregata in Notodden.
According to the police, the driver, a man in his forties, is suspected of being under the influence of drugs. The man didn’t have a driver’s license, and the car he was speeding through the hedge was also stolen.
We came up against a sign and a hedge
– He first passed a sign, then drove into the hedge, now the car is on its side in the garden there, says operations director Jan Kristian Johnsen of the police in southeast VG.
– There is no personal injury to the driver. There is minor material damage to the car and the hedge, the police reports on Twitter,
22-year-old Petter Ufs was on a Christmas visit home when he was suddenly awakened by the incident.
– He was a drunk person, probably driving too fast on a street where there are small children. It was a nice start to the day, so to speak, Petter Ufs (22) tells VG.

At her mother’s urging, UFS went out to check what had happened.
– So I had to go out and check, and say hello to this person who didn’t want to call Falch’en, says Ufs.
He says he was thrown backwards when he saw the car in the yard.
– I tried to find out what happened, but I didn’t get a good answer, Ufs tells VG.
He claims the police arrived quickly at the scene and took control of the situation. According to Twitter, the police left at 07:28.
