Petrol, you’d better fill up here: get ready for the strike

Filling up with fuel, in our country, is increasingly becoming a mission for the chosen few. The average of over 2 euros per liter brings us to our knees, yet there are still places in Italy where the price is really affordable.

Failure to extend the excise cut, which caused so much discussion and raised a fuss at Palazzo Chigi, places Italy in fourth place in Europe for green and third for diesel. In short, we have at the moment among the highest prices of the Old Continent, there is little to rejoice.

expensive petrol

Right now, like it or not, reality shows us how among the countries with the highest fuel prices in the Old Continent. The daily data from Il Sole 24 ore indicates an absolute peak in Piedmont, in Mondovì, in the province of Cuneo, where petrol reached 2,319 euros, with a weekly average of around 1,813 euros.

Last week of January: skyrocketing fuel prices

For diesel, very little changes: 2399 euros the peak, again in Piedmont, with the weekly average of 1863 euro. Be careful, because with regard to diesel the 2022 record was 2154 euros, so if you refuel in Piedmont you risk touching the record figure.

There are, of course, exceptional cases, such as those of white pumps. These are, it is good to know, independent petrol stations, which in a certain sense they do not “obey” the strict laws of the market and are therefore not tied to the oil majors.

Expensive fuel: you’re lucky if you live in Abruzzo, let’s find out why

At this moment, always according to the very reliable daily indications of Il Sole 24 ore, if you are lucky enough to find yourself in Abruzzo, in the beautiful town of Martinsicuro, you can pay petrol 1399 euros per litre and the diesel, as always higher, 1519 euros per litre.

We repeat, however, these are exceptions, those of the white pumps, which are irrelevant with respect to a market that even in this 2023 seems truly “addicted”, to the detriment of Italian families and businesses who are really in trouble in the face of these increases.

Consequently, if you don’t live near Abruzzo, thinking about taking the car and refueling can become a really difficult choice. Recent polls by some national newspapers show that the community is not at all satisfied with how the Meloni Government has acted towards the high price of petrol.
