Petrol price falls below 2.30 euros for the first time in more than two months | NOW

The average recommended retail price for a liter of petrol fell to 2,297 euros per liter on Friday, according to data from consumer collectives UnitedConsumers. This means that in a few weeks’ time, about 20 cents per liter has been deducted from the average price.

The price is now at its lowest level since mid-May. A month ago you paid almost 2.50 euros.

The diesel driver has also recently lost a bit less at the pump. The recommended retail price is 2,137 euros per liter on Friday. A month earlier, it was still more than 2.30 euros. LPG is also declining, although this has been the case since April.

Pump prices have been falling for several weeks, mainly because the price of crude oil on the world market has been falling since the first half of June. In mid-June, for example, you paid more than 120 dollars (118 euros) for a barrel of North Sea oil. The price is now hovering around $100 per barrel.

Incidentally, fuel prices are still sky-high compared to previous years. For example, last September the price for a liter of petrol exceeded 2 euros for the first time ever. In previous years, prices of 1.60 and 1.70 euros were not unusual.
