Petrol and diesel, an epochal turning point: yes to the definitive stop! It can be considered a decisive step forward for the environmental aspect

The ecological theme requires major reflections in the world of transport and will lead to a real revolution. Let’s get ready to abandon current fuels starting in 2035.

One of the most important challenges that man will face in the next few years is the fuel revolution. Road transport can no longer depend on petrol and diesel, given the emissions and the havoc they are rapidly wreaking on our planet. It is urgent to run for cover and study new ways of powering engines, both with electricity and with green fuels. The decision for the definitive stop of diesel and hydrocarbons was the Environment Commission of the European Parliamentwhich established as from 2035 endothermic cars will no longer be sold.

The European project was to bring everything forward to 2030, with first incentives as early as 2027, but then a softer line was preferred.

The will of the Environment Commission of the European Parliament is that of to reduce the average emissions of the fleet by 20% in 2025, compared to the values of 2021, and then by 55% in 2030 and by 100% in 2035.

At the moment the most credible and available alternative is represented by electric (and hybrid) vehicles. This is the green path also undertaken by other countries in the world, where the conversion of almost all means is now over 50% (see China). However, there is also another way to decarbonise, which can ignore the use of battery-powered engines. It involves the introduction of synthetic fuels with an ecological matrix, which mainly have two great advantages. The first is to make internal combustion engine vehicles reusable (petrol and diesel). The second is total abatement of emissions and the total elimination of disposal problems. Yes, because electric cars still have the contraindication of batteries. Recent studies have shown that the pollution caused by lithium is not negligible. All this could lead by 2050 to have mainly vehicles in circulation with eco-fuels rather than electric ones. The goal is always the cancellation of emissions.
