The Saint-Siméon convenience store is getting a makeover: the gas tanks have been refurbished and the business will now be a gasoline distributor affiliated with Petro-Canada.
Owners Dave Savard and Manon Boies have taken the plunge, they who have long been considering refurbishing their gas station installations.
Work began at the end of August and is expected to last just under a month. The investment for this upgrade is around $ 250,000.
Previously under the Ultramar banner, entrepreneurs decided to opt for a change of supplier.
As their previous contract expired, they signed a new 10-year agreement with the Canadian oil giant.
The couple of entrepreneurs have increased their investments in recent years. They first remade the front façade of their store located on Route 138. They have added a kitchen, a pizzeria and snack bar and, more recently, a creamery.
Soon it will be the turn of indoor freezers and refrigerators. They want to showcase microbrewery beers from here and elsewhere, a product that is increasingly popular, according to Mr. Savard.
The couple maintains that the summer of 2021 was probably “the best summer ever” for their two businesses, namely the Saint-Siméon convenience store and the Casse-croûte Élisa. The tourist traffic of Saint-Siméon is in constant growth, they testify in unison.
“It’s important to invest, to keep up to date. In our municipality, yes, we receive visitors, but if we want to attract new families, it takes attractive businesses and services, ”adds Dave Savard.
