The Minister of Defense, Luis Petritried to justify this Monday the military clothing that both he and the president Javier Miley They used Sunday during their visit to Bahía Blanca to learn about the destruction and deaths left by the storm, after the numerous criticisms they received on social networks.
“Milei is the commander in chief of the Armed Forces and when he leads the forces it is normal for him to wear military clothingin a context of catastrophe or emergency it should not surprise us,” said the official in dialogue with Radio Rivadavia, after several users wondered throughout Sunday why the far-right “disguised himself” as a soldier.
In that sense, Petri attributed the questions that filled social networks to supporters of Kirchnerism and assured that there was “an ideological bias” in the criticism to the president’s clothing.
“It is the ideological bias, but I think we should see it as natural. There are photos of (former presidents) Ronald Reagan, George Bush or Michelle Bachelet in military clothing because they were leading the Armed Forces and it is normal, we should naturalize it,” he insisted.
In this context, the minister was also consulted about the informal clothing that Milei was wearing at Casa Rosada this week.. “He dresses like before he was President and that speaks of how genuine he is”Petri said.
The situation in Bahía Blanca
Regarding the situation in Bahía Blanca after the violent storm, he commented that there was “600 people evacuatedalthough now many are returning to their homes.
