The story of an ordinary boy who became a girl. With these words begins the book of 24-year-old Petra from Gorna Oryahovitsa, nee Petar Hristov.
However, after hormone therapy and surgeries, there are still no records that say “female”. Even after the operation she was denied new identity documents.

“Petra was a little boy who grew up to be a brave woman,” she says Bulgaria on the air.
“To go through this whole transition, an internal struggle is required. I am happy, but there are things that I am missing. I am at the beginning of my new life,” said Petra.
“I’ve studied English, Korean, Greek and Turkish, but I don’t have a job yet,” she says.
