CRANS MONTANA – Italian skier Sofia Goggiová won Sunday’s World Cup race in Crans Montana.
She triumphed in the Swiss center with a lead of 15 hundredths ahead of her compatriot Federica Brignone, the Frenchwoman Laura Gauche finished third (+0.41). Slovakian Petra Vlhová took 22nd place with a loss of 1.65 s to Goggiová and added nine points to the ranking of the prestigious series.
In Crans Montana, Goggi celebrated her 22nd victory in the WC, 17th in the downhill. The Italian handled the final sector best, consolidated her lead in the provisional classification of the Royal Alpine discipline and came close to defending the small globe.
For the first time this SP season, Vlhová scored points in the speed discipline. In the overall standings, she remained in second place ahead of the Swiss Lara Gutova Behrami, who was 13th on Sunday. Series leader American Mikaela Shiffrin did not start in Crans Montana.
