Great entry into the season! Petra Vlhová in the opening races on the podium
However, the first round of Petra Vlhová was also traditional. Last season she was in tenth place after him, now she finished sixth. A year ago in the 2nd lap she went the famous fastest ride and climbed to the 3rd place, which she repeated again. Although her ride in the 2nd lap was not the fastest, she was enough to jump over two Austrian and one Canadian opponent to 3rd place. Only the winner Mikaela Shiffrin and the second Lara Gut-Behrami were above her strength.
“I am extremely satisfied. Sölden is very important, it will show you how you are, where you will belong. It is also important for the head as he goes on to training. Of course, she raised our adrenaline, as usual, ” her father Igor Vlha evaluated in the finish line after the race.
How did he see the second round? “There was a very important upper section in it, where you got a good lead. The exit to the plain was a bit worse, but the lead lasted. We beat the girls from Austria, that was important. “

Satisfaction with the result is also proved by the fact that Igor Vlha predicted one place worse placement. “I guessed four.” And why? “I do not know why. For sure,” the well-tuned father of the big globe laughed.
The great joy of the entire Vlh team was also seen in the finish line, where everyone rejoiced and hugged each other. Vlh’s father was also pleased with the new coach Mauro Pini. “We got out and said that it is very important for Petra that she is where she is. Mauro also said that it is very important for the head. We can look forward to the next part of the season. ”

The psychological well-being of Petra Vlhová, which she has already shown in several interviews, was confirmed by her father. “Petra is relaxed, she was also last night, even between the bikes. Everything is OK.”
He also adds to the fact that he no longer has to go to every race in the chase for a big globe. “We said to ourselves that we could not deal with the globe at all. We have reached some goal that is behind us. We will focus on the Olympic Games. We’re not going to get involved in any big globe at all. No, not at all, ” stressed Igor Vlha.
DEPARTMENTS AND NEW STAGES
She had an extremely demanding season last season. She completed all the races and had almost no time to rest. But working with Italian coach Livio Magoni brought her the coveted big globe. After her end, however, she broke up with a spirited coach and hired Swiss Mauro Pini. This change also brought her greater comfort.
“It simply came to our notice then. One stage closed, another before us. There is nothing else to look for behind it, it happens everywhere in life. We move on. Livio is in my heart. He did what we promised, I love him. It is natural, it is done in football or hockey. One stage simply ended and another began. It’s normal in life as well, ” he commented on the breakup with the Italian coach.

In addition to the breakup with Livio Magoni, the Vlhovci also experienced a breakup with the Ester Ledecká team, with which they collaborated last season. However, at the pre-season press conference, the coach of the Czech skier Tomáš Bank said that they would no longer cooperate with the Slovaks.
When asked why, he just remarked to ask Ledecka coach Franz Gamper. Igor Vlha did not want to comment on this topic and just said: “I will not comment on these matters. Try asking Mrs. Ledecká. ” The reason for the break-up of the Czech-Slovak team thus still remains a mystery.
RETURN OF FANS
The opening giant slalom was different from last year, especially in terms of the finish line. Twelve months ago, no one was standing there, this time with nine thousand fans, of which several hundred were from Slovakia.
“It’s great that there are spectators here and they enjoy it. There are also a lot of Slovaks, everyone is glad that the measures have been relaxed, but we have to be careful and make sure that we survive the whole season like this with the spectators. “
However, the team around Petra Vlhová still has to follow the ordered measures. “We’re locked in a bubble, but we don’t mind,” said Igor Vlha, who watched a large part of last season just for the coronavirus pandemic only on television.

DOMINANT SHIFFRIN AND GREATER COMPETITION

In the 1st lap she showed an incredibly beautiful ride. We have something to look forward to, we have inspiration, ” he bowed to his daughter’s rival.

He also highlighted the fact that the starting field in women’s skiing is leveling out, although the first three were again traditional, others are getting closer and improving. This is also documented by looking at the top ten after the opening round. There were up to six female skiers with a higher starting number than six.
“The Norwegians jumped out and I feel like it has thickened a bit. They all train and they all move, ” Igor Vlha said. Up to four Norwegians finished in the top 30, three of them in the top 20.
PROGRAM
What will be the next program of Petra Vlhová and her father? “We’re going somewhere north around Levi, we’re going to prepare for Lech and the slalom,” revealed in the direction of the next race – on November 13, a parallel giant slalom in Lech and then a slalom in Levi.
Last season, Petra Vlhová did not enjoy much support for her pandemic on the track from her parents. How will it be now? “We will go to races, I don’t know if they will all. It will be such a day-to-day decision. I want to go to Levi and then we’ll see. “
