Petra Vlhová will fight for the Olympic gold medals on Mount Xiaohaituo with an elevation gain of 2,198 meters in about a month. As the test events had to be canceled by the organizers of the Games, the current holder of the big globe and her rivals never rode this hill and therefore have no idea what awaits them.

Unlike World Cup races, which take place regularly in traditional and well-known places, participants under the five laps try Olympic Hill for the first time. It will experience a stellar premiere, as the test events for both men and women had to be canceled by the organizers in February 2020 and 2021. The reason was epidemiological measures in China.
However, several Chinese national races and FIS events have already taken place on Mount Xiaohaituo with an elevation gain of 2,198 meters. There are seven slopes and one Olympic piste in Yanqing.
Interestingly, the Olympic slopes can be threatened by sand. The area is located near the Gobi Desert, where heavy sandstorms erupt in February and March. The wind could bring the sand to the Olympians directly under the skis.
