Singer Petra Janů recently celebrated her 70th birthday. Therefore, she is well aware that she has to take care of her looks in relation to her age, and she has never made a secret of the fact that she is willing to undergo various beautification procedures. But one of them took revenge on her and changed her beyond recognition. It took many months before it was possible to at least partially remove the consequences of her.
When a special substance was applied to her to remove sagging cheeks and wrinkles, she had a severe allergic reaction and completely changed her facial features. Only thanks to the intervention of an expert plastic surgeon, who has “fixed” her as much as possible, she gradually begins to look like herself again. She’s also trying to shed the pounds she gained during the covid lull and she’s honestly admitted that she looks hot. The reason for her change was a large birthday concert, which she “gave” for her 70th birthday in Lucerne in Prague.

And that she succeeded according to her ideas is also confirmed by the documentary feature film of Czech television “Petra Janů – Let’s Carry On”, summing up fifty years of his singing career. However, many fans were frightened by the singer’s current appearance. She looks younger, but different than most people remember her. This is best seen in a series of archival footage and photographs, although Petra has changed her image many times over the years from a curly blonde to a redheaded “devil”.
However, she does not hide the fact that she had to fight with her appearance already at the moment when, as an ordinary girl from Sekerký Louček, she started at the Semafor theatre. She was convinced she was perfect and that Hollywood would be calling in two months, even though she had a home perm on her head and was wearing “curled” pants. “And I really looked like Sekerk’s Meadows in person,” he recalled with a laugh.
A fatal engagement
In addition, she had other problems, because of which she was even threatened with expulsion from Semafor. When she took over the role of “Bludička” after the departure of Hana Zagorová, she was not sufficiently prepared for it: “It was just terrible. Director Císler was screaming backstage that he was going to kill me,” he recounted. But then she bragged that she ended up playing the Maze five hundred times and everything worked out for the best. She gradually learned everything that was required of her, including walking on time.
The engagement in Semafor was fatal for her for another reason: “She came to us as Jana Petrů and left as Petra Janů. Jana Petrů was already a singer,” the principal of the Semafor Theater Jiří Suchý explained the origin of Petř’s pseudonym. “For me it was basically a conservatory, it took six years and that’s exactly the time you study at a conservatory. They taught me absolutely everything there and I still use a lot of things today. Most of all they taught me humility” confessed Petra Janů in her new TV portrait.
