Petra Heckenkemper is the new Vice President of the Cologne Finance Court. The President of the Cologne Finance Court, Dr. Jürgen Hoffmann, presented her with the certificate of appointment today.
Petra Heckenkemper was born in Rheda-Wiedenbrück in 1967. After graduating from high school, she first completed a dual degree course in the financial administration of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. She then studied law at the University of Münster. After her second state law examination, Ms. Heckenkemper worked as a lawyer in a law firm specializing in tax law in Stuttgart. From there, she moved to the Cologne Finance Court as a judge in 1999. Here, in addition to her judicial work, Ms. Heckenkemper worked for eight years as an equal opportunities officer. Since 2021, she has been chairwoman of the 6th Senate of the Cologne Finance Court and since January 1, 2024, she has also been appointed as a mediator at the Cologne Finance Court.
In addition to her judicial work, Ms. Heckenkemper was involved for many years in the Judicial Council and as an examiner in the 1st state law examination. She has continued her commitment to judicial co-determination work since 2022 as a member of the Presidium of the Cologne Finance Court and since 2023 also as a member of the Presidium of the Finance Court in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Petra Heckenkemper lives in Dormagen, is married and has a son. Her hobbies include playing tennis and skiing.
With 15 senates, the Cologne Finance Court is one of the largest German finance courts. The 47 judges, together with 39 employees and around 370 honorary judges, provide the citizens of the Cologne administrative district with legal protection in tax matters in the heart of Cologne.
