Hitler’s Edelweiss Division fought on both the Eastern and Western Fronts. It focused a lot on fighting the partisans and punishing those who supposedly supported the partisans. But they also acted differently. For example, in September 1943, they shot more than five thousand defenseless Italian prisoners. So a crime greater than Katyn. I don’t want to list dozens of incidents with less torture and murder here.
It would be ancient history. But the day before yesterday, Ukrainian President Zelensky awarded one of his elite units the honorary title of Edelweiss (HERE).
It’s incredibly disgusting, but it’s also extremely stupid. If someone wanted to convince the Russian public that NATO was reviving the old Hitlerian Nazism, they succeeded. If someone wanted to motivate the Russian soldiers, he succeeded.
Now listen carefully to the silence. How none of the western politicians dare to even sneer.
Above all, don’t even think of spreading the disinformation narrative that we support the neo-Nazi regime in Ukraine.
