Prime Minister Petr Fiala again became the chairman of the ODS, he had no opponent. He received 424 valid votes from 525 future delegates of the Ostrava Congress. His goal is to win the elections to the Chamber of Deputies in 2025. The mandate was passed and when he completes it, he will be at the head of the ODS, according to party founder Vclav Klaus. Similarly, Zbynk Stanjur, who ran his mandate without problems, had no opponent for the post of first chairman.

According to him, the vice presidents will be Martin Kupka, Alexandr Vondra and Martin Baxa. According to expectations, Eva Decroix, who is the vice president of the parliamentary club, was elected as the new leader. Jan Skopeek also originally tried for the position of mayor, but he withdrew his candidacy before the elections, so all other candidates succeeded.

Over 500 delegates gathered at the congress, and the two-day event was seen as the beginning of the road to the parliamentary elections in the fifth year. The ODS holds second place in the preference polls, not far behind the late former Prime Minister Andrej Babio’s ANO. If Fiala is not very popular in public opinion polls, there is support among the parties.

First, in her candidacy speech, she said that the coalition government, i.e. ODS, Lidovc, TOP 09, Starost and Pirt, has fully 60 percent of the votes that she commissioned more than two years ago. According to him, there is no doubt that by the end of the mandate, the government will complete half of what it undertook.

According to Fiala, the government cabinet managed to follow the unexpected calls and restarts, showing all economic indicators. “Inflation has fallen, energy prices have been falling for several months. We will see an increase in real wages,” he said.

The delegates applied for a strong mandate, which will help him bring the ODS to victory in the parliamentary elections next year. “I don’t want your country to be ruled by a few oligarchs and the party of one man. I don’t want your country to bow down to Moscow,” he declared and called on fellow party members to make a move, his goal should be to close the elections.

Before the elections, Fiala wants to prepare the full development of the country for another two electoral periods, i.e. with a Pesach of ten years. He wanted to build on investments and long-term. “What kind of country do we want? What kind of country are we fighting for? For a country that will be democratic, that will be a solid part of the EU and NATO. For a country that will be able to respond to the technological challenges of the 21st century. For an educated country that will give space to talent. and a confident country,” he stated. In connection with the debate on the change in pensions, which is being moderated by President Petr Pavel, he said that the government will push through the salary reform, and it is up to the opposition to agree or not.

“Every day, the opposition shows that it has chosen the path of negation, destruction, etc., regardless of the cost. It’s as if they are relying on the old communist slogan: I can do it for the republic, it’s better for us. That’s a shameless lie, that’s gambling with the future of the truth and vech oban,” he said to ANO. He also changed the side of ex-premier Andrej Babie in connection with the issue of pensions, in which, according to Fiala, the movement turned “when his wife was on vacation”.

“We charge our critics internally, this year too we want to show that they are wrong. We want to be as successful as possible in this election year as well,” he said of the campaign before the European, regional and senate elections. Before the parliamentary elections in the fifth year, he wants to promote democratic values. “We are in the midst of a long struggle for the future shape of the republic,” he said. He added that in the future we will learn whether R will be a failed democracy or will become a hybrid authoritarian oligarchic regime.

The House of Representatives compared the election to a battle between two worlds. “Either we will win and lead the country in a democratic direction. Or they will win and there will be another attempt to turn us into a periphery of Europe,” he declared.
