Petr Dudešek was born on March 24, 1939 in Ostrava. Few people know that the Czech musician, choirmaster, composer, screenwriter and singer, a graduate of the Ostrava Conservatory, was a member of the Ostrava Petr Bezruč Theater and in the years 1990 to 1992 also Member of Parliament.
The group of Buřinka and Beruška Petr Dudešek founded it in 1967, originally under the name Muzika bez kapelníka. Its beginnings are intertwined by playing drums in the orchestra of the Petr Bezruč Theater in Ostrava.
In a documentary for Czech Radio from 2019, created by Artur Kubica for his 80th birthday, Petr Dudešek described the group’s beginnings at the time.
For example, he recalled how a girls’ choir performed in one performance at the Petr Bezruč Theater, and he realized that having small children on stage in addition to good musicians and singers, five or six girls as a choir, could arouse audience interest. The idea later proved to be very far-sighted.
The author of the documentary Artur Kubica traveled to the musician all year for his memories – more info.
