Former Czech football goalkeeper Petr Čech ended up as an advisor to the technical and sports department of FC Chelsea. The English Premier League club informed about it on its website.
Several changes have taken place in the London club after the takeover by the American investor Todd Boehly. The new owner nominated himself to be the temporary chairman and sports director. The Czech Republic ends up in the leadership of Chelsea after three years.
“It has been a huge privilege for me to play this role in Chelsea for three years. With a club under a new owner, I feel it’s the right time to step back.” the 40-year-old Czech was quoted by the AFP agency.
The long-term Czech national team goalkeeper has been catching Chelsea for 11 seasons, and after four years in the rival Arsenal, he returned to Stamford Bridge, but already in an official role.
“Peter is an important member of the Chelsea family. We understand his decision to leave and thank him for his contribution as a mentor and for his dedication to the club and our community. We wish him only the best.” said in a statement Boehly, who took over “The Blues” from Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich.
