Petr Cech (40) has finished as technical director at Chelsea. He leaves the job on June 30, the club informs in one press release Monday.
The decision to leave Chelsea justifies Cech with the club’s new ownership.
– It has been a great privilege to have this role in Chelsea, says the Chelsea legend about the job he has had for the last three years.
– With the club under new ownership, I feel that it is the right time for me to step aside. I am happy that the club is now in an excellent position with the new owners, and I am confident of its future success both on and off the field, emphasizes the 40-year-old.
Chelsea have made several changes since the American businessman Todd Boehly, who has the company Clearlake Capital behind him, bought the club from Roman Abramovich at the end of May. Bruce Buck and Marina Granovskaia have resigned as chairman of the board and club director of the club, respectively.
Chelsea owner Boehly says in the press release that they understand Cech’s decision and wish him all the best for the future.
The former goalkeeper played for Chelsea from 2004 to 2015 and won a total of 15 titles.
