Prime Minister Kiril Petkov made a surprise inspection of the Brickell TPP in Galabovo. The Prime Minister personally visited the site together with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment and Water Borislav Sandov, who a few days ago was not allowed to the site and made startling findings in connection with his attempt to establish the real situation in Brickell, the government press service reported.

During today’s inspection, highly disturbing findings were also made, although the capacity of the thermal power plant has been reduced to 20%. The Prime Minister visited the mobile atmospheric air measuring station, and the level of sulfur dioxide reported was 5,600 milligrams per cubic meter, which inspection teams on the ground said was more than 15 times higher than the norms. The value of the measured fine dust particles was 1367 µg/m3 at a norm of 50 µg/m3 for this type of objects.

Together with Prime Minister Kiril Petkov and Deputy Prime Minister Borislav Sandov, representatives of a number of institutions participated in the inspection today: RIOSV – Stara Zagora, RIOSV – Haskovo, DG “PBZN”, the Labor Inspectorate, the National Center for Public Health and Analysis. The Prime Minister demanded detailed reports and a quick response from all institutions. Prime Minister Petkov will also demand a report from DANS to establish who is the actual owner of “Brickel” and whether there is a connection with Mr. Hristo Kovacki, which was not declared in the proper order.
Sandov: Geothermal waters can produce hot water and electricity
Deputy Prime Minister Borislav Sandov, for his part, pointed out that in the last six years there have been 51 criminal decrees against the Brickell TPP. A large number of them are not appealed in second instance, and Sandov admitted that they were probably written in such a way that they would fall in court.
