An online petition launched by the organization “Women for Change” and which has already gathered nearly 20,000 signatures, asks the promoters to cancel these concerts and the government South African not to grant a visa to Chris Brown, as the United Kingdom and Australia have already done in the past. According to this association, “ the event is a direct insult to millions of girls and women affected by violencein South Africa and around the world ».
A “cancel culture”?
Some fans of the singer in the country denounce what they describe as cancel cultureof “cancel culture”. Several accusations have been made against Chris Brown in recent years.
