The Green politician went on to say: “But I believe that education is systemically important. I also demand that this society see education as systemically important. That is why we are fighting for schools to be the very last place to be closed.”

For young people in particular, politicians lacked good concepts in the corona pandemic, said Peters. Young people behaved responsibly during the pandemic and restricted their social contacts. “We saw that young people mainly meet outside and mostly obeyed the rules. Of course, we also see problems. I think that is mainly because there are no real concepts for young people.”

There is no “right to party” for young people, said Peters, but there is a “right to develop well and continue to meet under certain hygiene concepts.” Peters went on to say: “The way young people interact with one another that we really need urgently and also need in order to develop further is not happening.”

Students are ignored

Peters also demanded a bonus for students and trainees so that they would not come to the financial hardships “that we are currently experiencing in my generation,” said the Green politician. “We call this basic student security, but it also applies to trainees.”

A kind of bonus is also needed for schoolchildren, but also improved equipment and hygiene concepts in schools. In this context, Peters named air circulation devices to prevent students from having to sit in the classrooms with blankets and winter jackets.
