Peter Wettergren will remain at the Swedish Football Association.
He becomes technical director, announces SvFF in a press release.
– I am very happy to get this chance, says the former assistant national team captain.
Andrea Möllerberg continues to put the puzzle in his reorganization of the association.
Earlier in December, the general secretary appointed Kim Källström as football director, and Caroline Sjöblom as technical director on the girls’ and women’s side.
Now it is clear that the latest piece is Peter Wettergren, who gets the corresponding role on the boys’ and men’s side.
– It will be very inspiring to work with Caroline and Kim, we will be able to do a lot together and chart a path forward, says the 55-year-old.
“At the beginning of next year”
During the morning, Fredrik Reinfeldt visited Nyhetsmorgon and revealed the news, shortly before it was confirmed on the association’s website.
– We are working on the way we work with football, says SvFF’s chairman.
There he was asked questions about the hottest ball, the national team captain’s job. Nothing is clear there, but according to Reinfeldt it shouldn’t take too long.
– At the beginning of next year, he says on TV4.
“Very good for Swedish football”
The new faces of the association have at least one common denominator – they are not completely new.
Before the job as assistant to Janne Andersson, Wettergren was a scout for the men’s national team for five years. Sjöblom has been the national team captain for the U20 national team.
And football manager Kim Källström himself has a solid national team career behind him.
– We have searched for people with a coaching background to balance against the experience I have as a player. Both Caroline and Peter are well grounded in the Swedish Football Association’s operations and can help shape the future of national team football. It feels very good to have this in place, that Peter stays is valuable for Swedish football, says Källström.
The new organization steps into its tasks at the turn of the year.
