Linda de Mol is always welcome at RTL, program director Peter van der Vorst said on Sunday in the radio program the Perstribune. De Mol presented various major RTL programs until she switched to Talpa in mid-2019.
“Linda didn’t have to leave us,” said Van der Vorst. “We are happy with our presenters, there is always room for talent at RTL. And Linda is a great talent. She can always come back.” The 48-year-old program director adds that RTL currently has “a lot of good presenters” and that “all programs have now been filled in”.
In her own words, De Mol did not choose Talpa for her own career, but mainly to be loyal to her brother John de Mol. “I didn’t really want to. But if your brother needs your help, then you go,” she said last year in the program she co-devised. Ladies Night.
Van der Vorst understands that choice: “I know how strong their bond is and I know what John has meant for Linda’s career, also from the beginning. So I understand that she opts for loyalty.”
“Of course you must always take loyalty to your employer into account. But in their case I understand the choice”, Van der Vorst continues.
The switch from De Mol to Talpa was not without a struggle. For example, RTL went to court for the programs I do not know in Oh, What A Year! to be able to keep. Initially, De Mol wanted to take the programs to Talpa, but a judge ruled that she was not allowed to do so.
