Former assistant Peter Tomko became the new coach of the football club MFK Ružomberok. He signed a one-year contract with the management of Fortunaligist and replaced Petr Struhár in the position.
“Today, at the board of our joint-stock company, the position of the head coach of the A-team was discussed. After mature considerations and consideration of several things, the decision was made to give the assistant coach from last season, Petr Tomek, a chance.
We also took into account the fact that he knows our environment intimately, as well as the players, which is only a plus. Of course, on the other hand, we also expect his own entry into the team.” explained general manager and chairman of the board of MFK Ružomberok Ľubomír Golis.
For 39-year-old Tomek, it will be the highlight of his coaching career so far. “It is the highest goal that a coach in Slovakia and at the club level can achieve. I certainly do not want to disappoint the people who trust me. I appreciate it very much and thank the owner and the club management. I also take it as an award for my several years of work, which I he did for Rozomber football,” said Tomko.
Ružomberok took seventh place in the FL last season and appeared in the play-off for the European Conference League. He beat Podbrezová 3:0 in the semi-finals, but lost to Žilina 1:3 in the final and did not qualify for the European Cup.
