A month ago, Thijs reported to the prison in Middelburg. He is now back home, Peter Römer told RTL Boulevard. “He has been released,” he says. This happened early, before the press was present at the prison.

Thijs is very happy that he is out of jail. “If you have been stuck for four weeks and you come outside, it is very nice to be able to breathe freely again,” Peter continues. “That’s how he experiences it. It’s the first day, isn’t it? It all takes a bit of getting used to. Also getting used to normal life again.”
Peter has had telephone contact with his son over the past month. He also visited us once, he tells us. “Everyone is happy that it’s over.”
Thijs was convicted last August for online abuse of three underage girls. He was sentenced to three months in prison, two of which were conditional, and a community service order of 240 hours. He appealed against this, but announced earlier this year through his lawyer that he would withdraw this. This means that the actor had to go to jail for a month. That prison sentence has now ended.
