De Vries was shot in Amsterdam at the beginning of July, after he had been a guest in a broadcast of RTL Boulevard. He died more than a week later.
‘to remember him’
The municipality reports that the death hit Aalsmeer, where De Vries was born. The municipality has decided to name a street after him ‘to remember him’ and to ‘meet the call from society’.

A new residential area will be built on the site of the TV studios in Aalsmeer in the coming years. In that construction project, a street is named after De Vries. “This is a very fitting location because he has worked in the TV world for so many years,” the municipality writes.
‘Special personality’
During his career, De Vries spent many hours in the TV studios in Aalsmeer, says mayor Gido Oude Kotte. He calls it ‘a beautiful tribute to a special personality who continued where others stopped.’
In addition to Aalsmeer, Amstelveen is also open to naming a street after De Vries, was announced yesterday. The murdered crime reporter grew up in Amstelveen and lived there for 23 years.

In Amsterdam, an appeal was previously made to rename Lange Leidsedwarsstraat, where the crime reporter was shot on July 6, to Peter R. de Vriesstraat.
Brother Wouter de Vries and lawyer and friend Peter Schouten said Friday to Humberto that they fully support the initiative, which arose on Twitter. Like the rest of the family:
