ANPBloemenzee for Peter R. de Vries in the Lange Leidsedwarsstraat where he was shot
NOS Nieuws•vandaag, 17:40
The Public Prosecution Service has demanded sixteen years in prison against Krystian M. (28), who is suspected of, among other things, directing the murder of crime reporter Peter R. de Vries.
The case in which he has now been charged concerns a liquidation attempt in Zeewolde more than two years ago. In this case too, he is seen as the one who directed the liquidation attempt.
The victim was shot in the leg with an automatic rifle in broad daylight among shoppers and was seriously injured. A motive has not become clear. The prosecutor assumes that the plan was to shoot the victim, but that the weapon refused.
Two co-suspects, aged 32 and 37, are suspected of shooting and driving the motorcycle with which they escaped after the crime. The Public Prosecution Service is also demanding sixteen years in prison against them for attempted murder and possession of weapons.
Other cases
In addition to the violence in Zeewolde and involvement in the murder of De Vries, M. is also suspected of involvement in the murder of lawyer Derk Wiersum. A prison sentence of twelve years was recently demanded against him in that criminal case.
The court will rule on January 29 in the case of the liquidation attempt in Zeewolde. The case regarding the murder of De Vries will be substantively dealt with from the beginning of next year.
