Five seasons, seven trophies, countless memories. Peter Olayinka is leaving Slavia in the summer, and after the contract expires he is heading to CZ Belgrade for free. Before his departure from the Czech Republic, he was still reminiscing about his experiences with the stitched fans.
Peter Olayinka did not have an easy time with Slavia fans. He came for more than three million euros from the Belgian league, yet in his first year in all competitions he scored only six goals and assisted four times.
In any case, he won the fans of stapled with an active press. For context, it should be mentioned that although he became the best cup scorer in the club’s history, he scored for the first time only in the 13th European match – at San Siro (1:1).
“The fans deserve a discharge, they traveled everywhere with us. It is not easy for them. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart, I greatly appreciate every moment we spent together. They really mean a lot to me, I will have them in my heart forever.” he told the club website Olayinka.
Since the second season in Slavia, Olayinka has already paid for support. The balance of 5+5 will not excite many, but Olayinka left a significant mark in Europe with his movement and played only half of the possible playing time in the league.
In terms of shooting, the Nigerian speedster matured like wine, which was also true in Europe. He struck out four times in the first three seasons, but the newly accustomed Conference League suited him much better. In two seasons, he scored eight goals.
“Without a doubt, the best fans in the Czech Republic are here. The stands are full of them every match, they always support us loudly. They followed us in all possible and impossible places. It was an honor to play for them. Likewise for the whole club.” the new reinforcement of CZ Belgrade continued.
There were indeed many specific trips during the Olayinka era. Slavia went to Israel twice, during this year’s Conference League pilgrimage, the red and white team visited Kosovo and Gibraltar. The atmosphere of De Kuip in Rotterdam was also a great experience.
Olayinka experienced the most celebrations in the first and third Slavist seasons. In both cases he won the league double, i.e. the Fortuna League and the MOL Cup. In both seasons, he also reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League, only losing to English clubs each time.
“In my first season, we won the double. Amazing memories, I have videos of the celebrations on the train when we were returning to Prague with the cup. Maybe I’ll show them to you sometime. Although I’d rather not… (laughs). Everyone enjoyed it, we drank it up.” added Olayinka.
