Peter Heidt wants to stay in the Bundestag

Wetteraukreis(pm). The direct candidate for constituency 177 Wetterau I in the Bundestag has been determined. On Thursday evening, the FDP members elected the incumbent Wetterau member of the Bundestag Peter Heidt as a direct candidate for the constituency by a large majority.

Heidt was born in Frankfurt in 1965, has two children and lives in Bad Nauheim. He is a lawyer and has been a member of the German Bundestag since July 2019. Heidt is chairman of his parliamentary group in the committee for human rights and humanitarian aid and a member of the committee for education, research and technology assessment in the German Bundestag. He is chairman of the FDP parliamentary group in the Wetterau district assembly, member of the district executive committee of the FDP Wetterau and city councilor of the liberals in Bad Nauheim.

In his speech to his party friends in Wetterau, Heidt emphasized: “Together with my parliamentary group in the German Bundestag in Berlin, I will continue to face the challenges of the Corona crisis with reason and pragmatism. Spreading panic is not appropriate. However, this is not the case in the current situation act carefree. ” Above all else, it is important to keep your distance and wear the mask. He reported on his work in the Human Rights Committee, where he campaigns for the rights of the Uyghurs and the democracy movement in Hong Kong. As a member of the education committee, he has also visited some schools in the Wetterau district in recent weeks. He stated: “The Corona crisis has made it clear that educational success depends far too much on the parents’ house. It is important to prevent children from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds from being left behind in the current situation.” The goal for the Free Democrats is to emerge stronger from the elections to the German Bundestag in order to be able to replace the previous government coalition.

The Wetterau FDP district chairman Jens Jacobi congratulated Heidt on behalf of the entire FDP district association. The Wetterau member of the state parliament and vice-president of the state parliament, Dr. hc Jörg Uwe Hahn was pleased with Heidt’s choice and congratulated him. The three Wetterau FDP politicians declared: “We work at all levels for the Wetterau citizens: in the Bundestag, in the Hessian state parliament, as well as in the city parliaments and local councils.”

The three politicians are sure that the FDP will achieve a good result in the local elections in March 2021 if they join forces. “We are looking forward to the upcoming tasks and the joint local election campaign as well as the federal election campaign,” said Jens Jacobi, Peter Heidt and Jörg-Uwe Hahn in a press release.
