Péter Geszti celebrates his 60th birthday today, nearly fifty of which he spent on stage and in front of the cameras. This decades-long career spans many projects that have become real success stories. It seems that whatever the singer touches, it turns to gold under his hands. Of course, it is not easy to summarize such a long and fruitful period, but we have tried and collected the biggest milestones of his career.

Geszti has already proven his talent not only as a singer, but also as a songwriter and actor. His career started on the stage of the Pesti Theater, and soon turned to music. Like many others, Péter initially wrote songs for other artists and bands, but soon founded his first band.
Péter Geszti’s bands were always successful
Although Rapülők disbanded after only two years, it was a very productive and successful period, as we can thank the formation for such evergreen hits as Áj láv jú or Ringasd el magad. Not long after the split, Jazz + Az was formed, the band composed music for films such as The Minister Stepped Down or The Pirates. And of course, we can’t forget Gringo Sztár, formed in 2011. The band’s songs probably do not need to be introduced to anyone, as Pálinka Sunrise and Winter Summer are also to their name.

Theater and TV were not left behind either
Péter Geszti made a lasting impression not only in light music, since the musicals The Jungle Book and The Pál Street Boys are also joint works with László Dés. The songs of both plays are sung together by generations and are undeniably successful. The former has had 1,400 performances, while the latter has had more than 400 and is still being played. Besides the songwriter he also tried his hand at television, as he has hosted many shows, including not one of his own. Also, as a talent search mentor, he straightened the careers of several young talents.
