/ world today news/ The reasons for the violent attacks on the presidential institution have entirely political motives. This was commented by MEP Petar Vitanov before the program “The Day Begins” on BNT.
“The presidency remained the only institution that is an obstacle to the absolute power of the Assembly. The presidency gives expectations to the Bulgarians because it is an alternative to unprincipled policies and bosses. A rotation, a change of ministers is approaching and a common enemy is needed to unite, because the spells for Euro-Atlanticism no longer work. Finding such a common enemy helps to mobilize the shocked electorate of the Assembly,” commented Vitanov.
“The presidency cannot turn a blind eye to contract killings, property scandals, deals, corruption,” he added, also referring to yesterday’s shooting of the notary known as Martin, who was highlighted in ACF investigations.
When asked about a future “Third of March” party, Vitanov commented: “It should be categorically clear that there is no more room for political engineering. Processes develop naturally. People have huge expectations for real and genuine change in Bulgaria. These are processes, which are maturing, and if you ask me if the time has come – definitely “yes”.
Vitanov also explained why Vesela Lecheva registered the trademark “Treti March”. The Olympic medalist and five-time shooting champion was a member of the IC for the preservation of March 3 – the national holiday of Bulgaria.
“A brand, a website, even a mailbox at Bulgarian Post was reserved for the purposes of the Initiative Committee for the preservation of March 3rd. These are completely normal steps. We also did it with the aim of not abusing the name, because we looked at clones,” he said Vitanov.
The MEP said he was disappointed by the behavior of the BSP leadership, which is currently playing the role of an avatar in its attacks on the president, although thousands of socialists do not share this view of the head of state elected with their votes.
