“Such an attack demonstrates both weakness and fear of a political alternative that could sweep away this administration,” Vitanov believes.
He also answered the question of whether the Referendum Initiative Committee will grow into a party.
“The initiative committee for the Third of March had one goal – to preserve our national holiday, to preserve the dignity and memory of Bulgarians. It fulfilled its purpose,” said Petar Vitanov and explained why the name “Third of March” was kept.
“In our political reality, we have seen ourselves as “mushroom doubles”, and that is why the name was preserved. This is the only reason – to cut off any attempt to abuse this initiative. Don’t look for anything more,” answered Vitanov.
As for the political prospects, the MEP thinks: “We were among the citizens for three months and I felt their expectations. They see hope in the presidential institution – to bring about a radical and essential change. There is no vacuum in politics. It is only a matter of time before a real alternative to today’s government emerges.”
“The European elections are important from the point of view of who participates in the legislative process of Europe, which determines more than 75% of what happens in Bulgaria. But the big goal should be to change the political situation in the country. Against this background, the question before or after the European elections is unimportant,” commented Petar Vitanov.
“I feel disgusted by the political leaders who lied to their own constituents. As a person involved in politics, I want to see how things in Bulgaria change for the better, how we participate equally with others in the processes that move Europe forward, how our parents lead a dignified lifestyle. This is my motivation to participate in any such venture, which gives a new perspective,” he added.
Petar Vitanov also commented on the behavior of the leadership of the Socialist Party in the current conflict.
“I am a left-wing person and I can only regret what is happening in the BSP,” he shared and added that he was “bewildered by the fact that Ninova is the spearhead of the attack against Radev and is on the side of his political opponents. led by the leader of the PG of the DPS”.
“Where you will position yourself in this conflict remains on the conscience of every political leader. Mrs. Ninova chose her country,” concluded Vitanov.
