Petar Stoyanov with a comment for March 3 – defended both the Prime Minister and the NSO

Decent people work in NSO and NSO is part of the statehood of Bulgaria and this should be understood by all. This was said by the President (1997-2002) Petar Stoyanov in the program “Face to Face”.

“Last year, the NSO seemed to become the scapegoat on duty for everything.

Last year we even witnessed a nihilistic attitude – why we need NSO.

I remember at the time before the attack on the Twin Towers there were ministers from the Scandinavian countries who rode bicycles to work. After that, however, everything changed dramatically, even those countries that did not have such specialized services, created them and it is very stupid for us to attack and criticize something that is really part of the statehood of Bulgaria, “Stoyanov added.

According to him, an internal inspection is never superfluous.

“I have no idea what exactly happened, but in principle I think that the attitude towards NGOs should be like a state institution that deserves all our respect.”

Regarding the war in Ukraine, Stoyanov said that nothing is as simple as it seems.

“From the point of view of morality, Ukraine deserves not only all our sympathies, but also some far more active actions. President Zelensky has said this several times that everything that is happening in Ukraine is before the eyes of the West. He even told European officials.

On the other hand, it is by no means easy for NATO to decide on direct military support for Ukraine, because this may indeed mean a new world war, “said Petar Stoyanov.

He added that what worries him is the reflection of what is happening in Ukraine, here in Bulgaria:

“And not just from an economic point of view, and not just from a potential refugee point of view. Thank God, we show a very high degree of compassion for these people and it deserves our admiration, but in purely mental national-psychological terms, I think it shakes the Bulgarian society. ”

In connection with the Prime Minister’s shooting of snowballs on March 3, Petar Stoyanov said he felt offended and humiliated by what had happened.

Imagine on our national holiday, shortly before or shortly after the memorial service for the victims and the sounding of the Bulgarian anthem, a group of people shot snowballs and abusive words at the Bulgarian Prime Minister and the Bulgarian Speaker of the National Assembly. poster that says in Russian – Thank you Russia.

I remember the time, I mentioned the Twin Towers, then a French newspaper came out with the headline – We are all Americans. Today, we are all Americans in solidarity. On this day, I wanted all Bulgarian politicians to say – Today we are all on the side of the Prime Minister and the head of the National Assembly.

It does not matter whether you are their political supporter or their political opponent, because the national holiday of Bulgaria, among other things, has a political therapeutic impact on Bulgarian citizens.

When the representatives of all Bulgarian institutions stand together, the people say to themselves – Yes, they can fight all day for current political affairs, but here on the national holiday they are together and this gives us confidence that in difficult, important for our country moments they will really be together again.

This did not happen and I am extremely disappointed with this, “Stoyanov added.
