“Three years is not too much! The procedures are long with our institutions » The words are from Christian Arzel, president of the National de pétanque de Ploudalmézeau (Finistère), played last May for the first time.
For its first edition, the organizers laid out 220 pitches (180 for men, 40 for women) at Keribin. If you want to organize a tournament, outside the private circle, here’s what to do.
Pay attention to the chosen date
First, you have to find a place. This seems obvious at first sight. “It’s not so obvious. Not every municipality has adequate infrastructure”explains Christian Arzel.
Then, from a logistical and financial point of view, the support of the town hall is necessary. Behind, you have to register with the Federation with an endowment scale, rating the meeting as is the case in tennis, horse riding or others. “We also need to find private partners, adds Christian Arzel. The important thing is also to see what is being done at other tournaments to get good ideas and establish contacts with the players. And then, really, you have to be careful with the date chosen because the players are in high demand. »

Once approval is granted, the specifications imposed by the Federation must be strictly applied. The player of the event, a federal delegate from another department comes to note the event. A crucial step for the reputation and the future of tournaments.
It is also necessary to mobilize volunteers. “We were 240 over three days, spread over three time slots, to ensure catering and logistics in particular”explains Christian Arzel.
Then comes the draw. This is done electrically using federal software. The draw cannot therefore be falsified. The parties can then argue.
