The press secretary of the Russian president in an interview with Vladimir Solovyov on the Rossiya TV channel gave details about the incident with the British destroyer Defender in the Black Sea and explained what Russia’s actions would be if such a provocation was repeated.
“The essence of operations similar to the provocations with the British destroyer Defender in the Black Sea is planned for” senior comrades overseas, “said the head of the presidential press service.
According to him, Russian intelligence knows who made the decision when organizing this provocation.
Peskov also stated that these were deliberate actions to probe weaknesses in the response and border tracking systems.
A Kremlin spokesman recalled that a US reconnaissance aircraft was found over the Black Sea at the time of the incident. He stressed that this plane received only the information that the Russian Federation considered necessary to “provide”.
In addition, Dmitry Peskov answered the question of what would happen if another NATO ship violated the borders off the coast of Crimea: “I am not a supporter of discussing such doomsday scenarios, but it is obvious that the reaction will be harsh.”
