Perverted surgeon in the Bronx abused a young patient: sentence in New York

Dr. Woojin Cho, former chief of orthopedic surgery at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, was sentenced to nine months in prison for sexually abusing a patient and asking her to be his “sugar baby,” District Attorney Darcel Clark announced.

The 48-year-old doctor, residing in Hartsdale (NY), was found guilty of sexually abusing a 22-year-old woman who came to see him for a medical appointment in September 2020.

According to research, Dr. Cho grabbed the woman’s chest and kissed her neck and cheek, and also touched the victim’s private area under her clothesfound the investigation.

Dr. Cho also entered his personal phone number into the victim’s cell phone and asked her to be his “sugar baby”. The 22-year-old victim told her mother what happened and police were contacted.

“The authorities made a controlled call in which the defendant explained to the victim what a ‘sugar daddy’ and ‘sugar baby’ relationship was and admitted touching her while saying that it was part of his exam. She also told the victim that she should keep the incident a secret and that if she kept quiet, she would receive ‘a lot,’ ”said a press release from the Bronx district attorney’s office.

Dr. Cho was arrested on September 15, 2020. The sentence came after a jury convicted him of forced contact, sexual abuse and harassment last May.

“The abuse of power and the actions [del Dr. Cho] are inexcusable”, said prosecutor Clark on Tuesday in the statement cited by Pix11.

In a similar case, last month began the trial in the Manhattan Supreme Court against Dr. Ricardo Cruciani, neurologist of Argentine origin accused of groping and sexually assaulting six female patients in New York, Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
