Thanks to the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Peru in the Republic of Guatemala, Peruvian directors participated in the “Ícaro” Film Festival, the most important film meeting in Central America that took place between November 24 and 3 December in Guatemala City.
The filmmakers exhibited their works and participated in discussions and workshops for young filmmakers.
Director Henry Vallejo, director of the award-winning feature film “Manco Cápac”, a film shortlisted for the “Oscar” awards, held a discussion after the screening of the aforementioned film at the prestigious ‘Cineflix Tikal Futura’ that took place last Tuesday November 28, attracting wide reception and attendance.
For his part, the independent filmmaker Álvaro Luque, director of the documentary “La Danza de los Mirlos” that tells the story of the mythical Peruvian Amazonian cumbia band, screened his feature film on Wednesday the 29th at the so-called ‘Bar Monumental’, with a great audience. concurrence. The evening was followed by a discussion and a cumbia concert.
Finally, on Thursday, November 30, at the Miguel Ángel Asturias Cultural Center, the animated short film “El Faro” by young filmmakers Mauricio Esparza and Miguel Ángel Esparza was screened, which was widely received by the local public.
National filmmakers had the opportunity to participate in meetings, workshops and discussions, as well as in screenings of the more than 150 productions on display.
This effort to promote national film production is part of the policy of cultural projection and incentives for the Peruvian cultural industry carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our Embassy in the Republic of Guatemala.
