Peruvian criticism and literature

I record four recent essays dedicated to Peruvian literature. Clorinda Matto in the 21st century (PUCP Editorial Fund, 2022), edited by scholars Ana Peluffo and Francesca Denegri, divided into four parts and made up of fourteen essays in total, includes texts by Mary Louisse Pratt, Julio Mestanza Rodríguez, Evelyn Sotomayor, Pura Fernández, Marcel Velázquez Castro , Luis Ainaí Morales, Beatriz Ferrús, Ronald Briggs, Diego Márquez Arnao, Sarah Moody, Graciela Batticuore and María Vicens, in addition to those of the editors, with content of great quality, rigor, breadth and relevant relevance. ,

Six approaches to José María Arguedas (Horizonte, 2023) by Martín Lienhard (Basel, 1946) analyzes the novelist from the anthropological, cinematographic and “Andeanization” of urban avant-garde, taking his novels as a guideline. all blood (1964) y The fox above and the fox below (1971), as well as his poems Father (1972). in his book The missing link. These communications, which go from the 1930s to the 1950s, allow the scholar to review aspects related to the avant-garde, the anti-oligarchic front, countercultural struggles, ethnographic turns and international dissidence using, in turn, the pages of magazines like Amauta, Bulletin Leave, Vital, The use of the word, DYN y The abodes.

Finally, in Conflicting torrents. Mario Vargas Llosa and Miguel Gutiérrez (PUCP Editorial Fund, 2023), a book divided into two parts and with five chapters in total, Abelardo Sánchez León (Lima, 1947) practices with detail and spaciousness an approach to the political from the literary through a writing that straddles the tone of the journalistic chronicle and the rigor of the academic essay.
