The Judiciary formally included the State Attorney General’s Office as a civil actor in the process being followed against former President Pedro Castillo and a group of former ministers who participated in the coup d’état on December 7, 2022.
The supreme judge of preparatory investigation, Juan Carlos Checkley, declared as consented the resolution he issued on June 27, where among other aspects he admitted the request of the attorney general’s office for her to be admitted as a civil actor.
As detailed by the magistrate in his resolution, none of the procedural parties filed any appeal after being notified and within the period of three business days.

“With said procedural conduct, your agreement with what was resolved is denoted; Therefore, it is appropriate to declare the resolution approved,” he indicates.
Pedro Castillo is being investigated for the alleged crimes of rebellion and, alternatively, conspiracy, as well as abuse of authority and disturbance of public tranquility for announcing the dissolution of Congress in a message to the Nation on December 7, 2022.
Also being investigated with him are Betssy Chávez, Willy Huerta, Roberto Sánchez and Aníbal Torres, all former ministers of his government who would have participated in carrying out the coup d’état.
