Peru Reports First Death Case of Flurona

Lima, Peru – Peru’s Ministry of Health on Thursday (6/1/2022) reported the first death flurona, namely a combined infection between the flu and the corona virus. This first case of death involved an 87-year-old patient with a congenital disease who was not vaccinated against Covid-19.

The other two cases, namely a child and a 40-year-old patient, have received the complete Covid-19 vaccine, Munayco said. Those infected experience symptoms such as cough, sore throat and other common symptoms, he said.

Munayco urged the public to be injected with Covid-19 and influenza vaccines because vaccination can “reduce the risk of death”.

“It is important to take this into account, because we are currently facing a massive outbreak of H3N2 influenza in forest areas of Peru, such as Loreto, San Martin, Amazonas and Ucayali,” he said.
