The Ministry of Health of Peru this Saturday (26.11.2022) urged the citizens of the country to complete the vaccination program against the COVID-19, after recording the increase in cases of the virus in recent weeks in the country.
Through a statement released on social media, the ministry recalled that the vaccines are “safe, effective and of high quality” and found that 93.91% of the target population of the Andean country has the first dose, 90.16% two, 73.43% have all three and 23.22% have been vaccinated four times.
In the same disclosure, he indicated that a multicultural awareness campaign continues throughout the country in the native languages of each community, to raise awareness and provide the population with the opportunity to be vaccinated.
In addition, he responded to allegations that have been published in local media that there are stored vaccines that are at risk of expiring in the coming days.
In this regard, he stressed that the Ministry’s Immunization Directorate “has developed a series of immediate actions such as house-to-house sweeps nationwide to bring vaccination against COVID-19 closer to the population in order to protect it and avoid developing serious conditions of the disease”.
The highest mortality in the world
Ministry figures said 4,529 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the past 24 hours, 18 people died from the virus, bringing the total to 217,339 deaths in the country with the highest death rate in the world. .
Last week, the Minister of Health, Kelly Portalatino, said that the country is not yet experiencing a fifth wave of the pandemic, but estimated that it will arrive in the second half of December due to the increase in positive cases recorded in recent weeks in various regions.
