PT Pertamina (Persero) suspect the scarcity Solar subsidies occur due to misappropriation of fuel oil (BBM) by major palm oil and mining industries.
Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati revealed that the portion of subsidized diesel for the total sales of diesel fuel reached 93 percent, while non-subsidized only 7 percent.
Seeing this, his party and law enforcement officials will determine whether as much as 93 percent of subsidized diesel sales go to large industries.
“We see that these queues are actually from big industries, palm oil, this mine must be brought under control,” Nicke said in a hearing with Commission VI DPR, Monday (28/3).
It says subsidized Solar should not be used by the mining industry and oil palm plantations.
“We thought it was like that and what seems to be the reason? Sales of non-subsidized diesel have decreased, subsidized diesel has increased, even though the industry has increased, this needs to be straightened out,” he explained.
Therefore, continued Nicke, we need technical guidance from the government regarding who has the right to consume subsidized Solar and its volume.
“Perhaps a Ministerial Decree (Kepmen) is needed which can then be used as a basis in the field,” he said.
Previously, a number of regions reported shortages of diesel, namely Bengkulu, Riau and South Sumatra.
Bengkulu Governor Rohidin Mersyah, for example, said that due to the scarcity, his party proposed an additional quota for the diesel fuel subsidy to the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas).
The request was submitted because the diesel stock in Bengkulu was unstable, causing long queues.
“The government proposes to increase the quota for subsidized diesel fuel so that there are no long lines of vehicles at several gas stations,” said Rohidin, as quoted by Antara, Monday (28/3).
Similarly, the Governor of Riau Province, Syamsuar, also sent a letter to increase the biodiesel quota for this year to 884 thousand kiloliters to BPH Migas.
“We have conveyed through a letter numbered 541/DESDM-02/765 because of the scarcity of biodiesel fuel in Riau and referring to Presidential Regulation number 191 of 2014 concerning the supply, distribution and retail selling price of fuel oil,” said Syamsuar.
