SOE Minister Erick Thohir said the performance of PT Pertamina (Persero) and the Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas could not be compared. This is because Petronas produces its own oil and gas, while Indonesia is still importing oil.
“It can’t be compared, for example, Pertamina and Petronas, it’s different, because Petronas is still producing, if we are an importing country, the conditions are different,” he said in Jakarta, Wednesday (3/8/2022).
He said the government itself continues to strive to ensure that Pertamina’s cash flow is maintained. He said, there was an assumption that Pertamina would lose.

Erick also dismissed this. He said cash flow and loss were different.
“Just yesterday it was as if Pertamina had lost, not lost, cashflow and loss were different. Cashflow means a deficit because the money has not been replaced, so the subsidy money is a cashflow deficit, but once it is replaced, it means Pertamina’s cashflow is improving, then the profit-loss is also good,” ” he said.
Furthermore, Erick said, Pertamina must ensure that services to the community remain guaranteed, including supporting the government’s program in distributing subsidized fuel. Erick said that Pertamina was also efficient in various aspects.
“That’s what we sometimes do, of course, Pertamina has to maintain how services to the community are guaranteed, support the government program whose name is now subsidized fuel, but that doesn’t mean Pertamina is not doing efficiency everywhere,” he explained.
