Pertamax Price Will Rise? This is Pertamina’s words Page all

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Significantly rising world oil prices have further burdened PT Pertamina. Price adjustment Pertamax It is also deemed necessary to do so in order to maintain Pertamina’s business continuity.

Currently, PT Pertamina is also reviewing the potential for adjusting the price of RON 92 Pertamax fuel in line with the recent increase in crude oil prices.

“We are still studying it,” said Acting Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, SH C&T of PT Pertamina Irto Ginting, quoted from HappyMonday (14/3/2022).

For this reason, Irto has not been able to elaborate further on the amount of the Pertamax price increase later.

Nevertheless, Irto emphasized, in general, the adjustment of non-subsidized fuel prices always considers world oil prices, the dollar exchange rate, and of course must comply with the provisions of the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.

According to him, the trend of Pertamax consumption is also increasing every year.

As an illustration, Pertamax consumption reached 8 percent of the total national fuel consumption in 2020. This number increased to 12 percent of the total national fuel consumption in 2021. In addition, the average Pertamax consumption reached 13 percent of the total national fuel consumption.

Meanwhile, Energy Watch Executive Director Mamit Setiawan said that currently Pertamina is bearing the difference selling price which is quite large. Meanwhile, if an adjustment is made, the selling price of Pertamax will not be much different from the selling price of RON 92 fuel from other business entities.

“We can see the price of RON 92 fuel sold by private gas stations which is currently at Rp 12,900. So, Pertamina’s price should not be far from there. The difference may be Rp 50 or Rp 100 cheaper,” said Mamit.

Mamit added that Pertamina has been borne by Pertamina since 2021. The difference between the selling price and economic price reach Rp 2,500 to Rp 3,000 per liter.

Similarly, the Executive Director of the Reforminer Institute, Komaidi Notonegoro, assessed that the current increase in world oil prices is increasingly burdensome for Pertamina.

“Currently, the price of Pertamax is still using the ICP assumption of the 2022 State Budget which is set at 65 US dollars per barrel,” said Komaidi.

In fact, world oil prices continue to show an upward trend far above this assumption.

On the other hand, the government is considered to have to immediately take a policy related to fuel prices. According to Mamit, the government needs to immediately issue a derivative regulation of Presidential Regulation Number 117 of 2021 concerning the Third Amendment to Presidential Regulation Number 191 of 2014 concerning the Provision, Distribution and Selling price Oil Fuel Retail.

He said that this condition made business actors, especially Pertamina, still confused about its implementation.

“So that Pertamina (also) feels safe with the conditions if Pertalite compensated, it is also necessary to clarify the amount of compensation,” said Mamit.

According to him, the 50 percent compensation as stated in Pertalite is still not sufficient. Moreover, the price of Pertalite will certainly not increase for some time to come. (Philemon the Great)
