Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Pertamina, through PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, decided to increase the price of Pertamax fuel oil (BBM) starting April 1, 2022 at 00.00 local time. The price of non-subsidized gasoline RON 92 has been adjusted to Rp 12,500 per liter (for regions with a 5% motor vehicle fuel tax/PBBKB), from the previous price of Rp 9,000 per liter.
“Pertamina always considers people’s purchasing power, the price of Pertamax is still more competitive in the market or compared to similar fuel prices from other gas station operators. This has only been done in the last three years, since 2019,” said Irto Ginting as Acting. Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, SH C&T PT Pertamina (Persero) in a press release.
This price adjustment, continued Irto, is still far below its economic value. Previously, the Head of the Bureau of Communication, Public Information Services and Cooperation of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Agung Pribadi, stated that considering the March oil price which was much higher than February, the economic price or the upper limit of RON 92 general fuel in April 2022 would be even higher than Rp. 14,526 per liter, it could be around Rp. 16,000 per liter.
Thus, the adjustment of Pertamax’s price to Rp. 12,500 per liter is still Rp. 3,500 lower than its economic value.
“We do this so as not to burden the community too much,” said Irto.
So, what about the price of Pertalite? Pertamina Niaga ensures that price adjustments are carried out selectively, only for Non-Subsidized Fuel which is consumed by the public by 17%. Where 14% is the total consumption of Pertamax and 3% the total consumption of Pertamax Turbo, Dexlite and Pertamina Dex.
“Meanwhile, subsidized fuel such as Pertalite and subsidized Solar which is consumed by the majority of the Indonesian people by 83%, has not experienced a change in price or is set at a stable price at Rp. 7,650 per liter. This is the contribution of the Government and Pertamina in providing fuel at affordable prices, ” said PT Pertamina Patra Niaga’s statement.
