JAKARTA – Center of Reform on Economics (CORE) economist Piter Abdullah gave his response about the limit price or economic value of non-subsidized fuel, such as Pertamax.
It is known, the economic price of Pertamax rose to Rp. 16,000 per liter, from the previous Rp. 14,526 per liter. The increase was in line with the still high trend in world oil prices.
Piter assessed that the government’s policy of increasing the price of Pertamax would not burden the lower middle class.

“Pertamax is non-subsidized fuel, the buyers are the upper middle class. Therefore, it is only natural that the price of Pertamax follows the market price,” said Piter when contacted by MNC Portal Indonesia, Saturday (26/3/2022).
He said it was different if the government increased the pertalite, it would burden the lower middle class.
