Persons Disallowed from Operating While Fasting in Jakarta, the Capital City

Jakarta

provincial government DKI Jakarta issued operational provisions for tourism businesses during the holy month of Ramadan. So what are prohibited from operating during Ramadan?

Head of the Provincial Tourism and Creative Economy Office DKI Jakarta Andhika Permata said discotheques to independent massage parlors were prohibited from operating during Ramadan.

“Certain types of businesses, such as nightclubs, discotheques, steam baths, massage parlors, manual, mechanical and/or electronic dexterity game arenas for adults, as well as bars/teaming houses must close one day before the holy month of Ramadan until one day after second day of Eid al-Fitr,” said Andhika Permata, in his statement, Thursday (23/3/2023).

However, DKI Pemprov makes an exception for nightclubs and discotheques that are integrated with a minimum 4-star hotel area and commercial area and are not close to residential areas, houses of worship, schools or hospitals.

The provisions for operating hours are stated in the Circular Letter of the Head of the DKI Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Number: e-0009/SE/2023 per March 21, 2023. Business operators are asked to maintain a conducive atmosphere during Ramadan.

“Tourism business operators are also asked to maintain a conducive atmosphere during the month of Ramadan until Eid al-Fitr. Not only regulating operating hours, this circular letter also contains provisions for organizing tourism businesses,” he said.
