Personnel Changes in the Security Service of Ukraine: New Military Ranks and Appointments

“To assign the military rank of lieutenant general to Major General Vasily Vasilyevich Malyuk, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine,” it says Decree No. 3/2024.

At the same time, Deputy Chairman of the SBU Alexander Poklad received a new military rank.

“To assign the military rank of major general to Brigadier General Alexander Valentinovich Poklad, deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine,” it says Decree No. 4/2024.

Personnel changes in the SBU

In 2022, President Vladimir Zelensky appointed a new head of the SBU. This was Brigadier General Vasily Malyuk.

Previously, the post of head of the Security Service of Ukraine was held by Ivan Bakanov, but in the summer of 2022 he was removed. The official reason for this decision was given as massive facts of high treason and collaboration by SBU officers.
