RB Leipzig – SC Freiburg (Saturday, 3.30 p.m.)
Situation: Leipzig took 18 points from seven games in the second half of the season and is the best team after the winter break. In the fight for the premier class tickets, the table neighbor from Freiburg with the same points should be distanced.
Personal: Gvardiol, who had to leave the pitch in the DFB Cup game in Hanover, is questionable. At Freiburg, Coach Streich has to replace the yellow-banned Höfler.
Statistics: Leipzig has yet to lose any of their five Bundesliga home games against SC (4 wins/1 draw). In the first leg, however, RB im Breisgau did not get beyond a 1-1 draw.
special: With 40 points from 24 games, Freiburg has the best interim record under Streich, who could draw level with ex-coach Finke (104 wins) after victories. The people of Breisgau were only better in the 1994/1995 season.
VfL Wolfsburg – 1. FC Union Berlin (Saturday, 3.30 p.m. / Sky)
Situation: Five weeks after his surprising move from Berlin to Wolfsburg, Kruse meets his ex-club again. Union have lost three out of four games since the striker’s departure.
Personal: Right-back Mbabu is set to replace suspended central defender Lacroix at VfL.
Statistics: The Berliners have lost both away games in Wolfsburg since they were promoted to the Bundesliga in 2019.
special: Both clubs met in 1992 in the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga. At that time, Wolfsburg won 4-0 and 2-1.
Hertha BSC – Eintracht Frankfurt (Saturday, 3.30 p.m.)
Situation: Both teams have lost the last three games. Hertha has slipped to the relegation place, Frankfurt threatens to lose touch with the international starting places with another defeat.
Personal: At Hertha, goalkeeper Schwolow survived the corona infection, defender Kempf served his red suspension. Frankfurt is missing the yellow blocked Lenz.
Statistics: Hertha has not won as often against any other club in the Bundesliga. The Berliners left the field as winners 30 times, just as often as against HSV. But Frankfurt has won three of the last four games in the Olympic Stadium.
special: Until the summer, Bobic, Hertha’s sporting director, worked for Frankfurt and celebrated successes. In the Main metropolis, Bobic only started in his second season. A transfer that helped Eintracht at the time: Kevin-Prince Boateng.
VfL Bochum – SpVgg Greuther Fürth (Saturday, 3.30 p.m. / Sky)
Situation: Three days after the bitter end of the DFB Cup against SC Freiburg, Bochum can take another step towards remaining in the league. Bottom light Fürth is much more stable than in the first half of the season, but is still a long way behind the relegation place.
Personal: Bochum will have to do without attacker Locadia and midfielder Tesche. At Fürth, all players are available except for those with long-term injuries.
Statistics: In 27 league games between the two teams against each other, the respective home team only won five times. The guests won ten times.
special: As a professional footballer, Fürth’s coach Leitl once scored a hat-trick against VfL Bochum.
VfB Stuttgart – Borussia Mönchengladbach (Saturday, 6.30 p.m.)
Situation: VfB has been without a win for nine games – longer than any other Bundesliga side. Borussia is also in the bottom third of the table, but would pull away with a win.
Personal: The most recently injured Führich and Sosa are likely to be available to VfB. Mangala, who has a thigh injury, is still questionable. In addition to defender Friedrich, the guests are also missing his suspended deputy Beyer.
Statistics: Among the current Bundesliga teams, Gladbach only have more away wins against Cologne (25) than at VfB (13). However, Borussia could not win the last three games in Stuttgart.
special: According to the statistics service provider Opta, Stuttgart, together with Dortmund, has the best percentage of duels in the league so far in the second half of the season (54 percent won). Gladbach follows directly behind (53 percent).
1. FC Cologne – TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (Sunday, 5.30 p.m. / DAZN)
Situation: With three wins in a row, Hoffenheim has moved up to the Champions League places, Cologne remained in wait four points behind.
Personal: The hosts still have to do without defender Hübers, but newcomer Chabot has joined the team. Hoffenheim has to do without the sick Hübner and Rudy. A possible use of Geiger remains open, as does Vogt.
Statistics: Hoffenheim have won all seven of their past games against Cologne and are undefeated in eleven games against the Rhinelanders. On April 12, 2015, FC celebrated their last win against Kraichgau.
special: A Hoffenheim duo has to be particularly feared by the Cologne team: Kramaric has scored five goals in the last three games against Cologne, Baumgartner has scored four times in the last four games against FC.
